As overnight temperatures drop it is a good idea to monitor the forecast and take precautions to prevent damage to your system. If concerned, turn off the water to your pump, drain the valves on your pump and leave valves open halfway.

After what seems like a long hiatus, Comstock Estates will hold a public meeting Wednesday, October 14th. The meeting will be held at the Fruita Community Center in the Cherry Room. The meeting time will be from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm.

Covid 19 restrictions will require different arrangements than we have had in the past. The one room we were able to reserve has a 50% capacity of 15 people. Six of those will be the board members and our property manager, Lori Wood. The leaves room for 9 homeowners to be in physical attendance. If Covid 19 restrictions are still in place at the time of our January meeting we will attempt to get a larger space.

Another change is that the hours of operation for the center have been reduced. That is why we will start the meeting earlier, at 5:30 pm. We will need to stop the meeting at 6:30 pm so that all the furniture can be replaced and the room cleaned up. The center will close at 7pm.

While in the center all of us will be wearing our masks and will be social distancing. We ask that one representative per home attend to provide the most representation of homes that we can.

The doors to the Cherry Room will open at 5:30 sharp. For the 9 spaces available, admission will be first come, first served.

The Grand Valley Irrigation District will today begin the process of temporarily draining the Grand Valley Canal. This decision was made to rule out the possibility that a missing 3 year old girl who was reported missing last night may have fallen into the canal. It is unclear whether or not this will affect our irrigation system. We recommend that irrigation water either be turned off or monitored so that your system does not run without water. The sheriff’s office advises that this is a slow process and it could take 48 hours to drain enough to search. Updates will be forthcoming as we receive them.

The following is a message from the Fruita Police Department: ” FPD has received multiple reports of attempted theft from autos in the Comstock subdivision last night. We are looking to identify the suspect in this video who appears to be carrying a firearm. If you have any information on who this might be please contact the Fruita Police Department at (970) 242-6707. Additionally, if you see anyone suspicious in your neighborhood, DO NOT attempt to contact them, instead call 911 immediately. “

Homeowners: Always lock your vehicle and do not leave anything of value in it. It is a good idea to also bring your remote into the house rather than leave it in your car where it could be taken and used at later time.

Water is back on.

The irrigation water will be shut off immediately while repairs are made to a homeowners system on Jasper Dr. Will advise when it’s back on.
